When Janey Hann first came to the Yucca Valley Film Festival, she came as a filmmaker in competition with the documentary Koroneburg.
She met other filmmakers, connected with people around the festival and became part of the YVFF community.
Then she came back as a volunteer, this time helping promote other filmmakers.
Last year, Janey stepped in as the host journalist for the State Farm Red Carpet Interview Booth (sponsored by our local agent Marianne Fenley, back again this year!).

Doing so, she helped produce no less than 25 interviews with filmmakers, guests and festival participants.
This year, Janey is back again, but she will be stepping onto the main stage as the festival’s main moderator.

She will lead filmmaker Q&As, discussions and Meet & Greets throughout the weekend, helping bring the people behind the films into conversations with our audience and community.
This is one of the things about us: you first attend as a filmmaker.
Then you might become an ambassador, helping spread the word.
Then helping as a volunteer or an ambassador, and why not eventually join the team and take on a larger role!
At YVFF, our intention is to build relationships. We want filmmakers to meet other filmmakers, meet industry professionals, meet our community and, hopefully, find their next opportunity along the way.
“When filmmakers and guests come back, whether it is the following year or years later, it is a testament to the relationships we have built with them. We deeply appreciate the trust they place in us” says festival director Matt Beurois.
From participating filmmaker, to alumni volunteer, to part of the team…
Janey, you have the mic!
