“Density” will screen during opening night at the Yucca Valley Film Festival, kicking off the weekend’s celebration of bold, independent storytelling. The film’s director, Graham Bishop, will be in attendance to present the short and meet festivalgoers. Already featured at LA Shorts, the Burbank International Film Festival, and Indie Short Fest, “Density” continues its festival tour with Yucca Valley as one of its most anticipated stops.
Here is our interview with Graham.
INTERVIEW
YVFF: “Density” feels like a Guy Ritchie movie mixed with early Tarantino vibes. Was that the style you were aiming for?
Graham: That’s actually the exact style I was aiming for. I’m influenced by filmmakers like Scorsese and Boyle—directors who tell gritty stories through a cool, raw lens that any audience can connect with.

YVFF: The lighting, fast editing, Dutch angles, flashy hair colors, and vintage look and feel all stand out. Can you tell us more about the visual style you created?
Graham: I love creating stories with big worlds, high energy, and distinct characters, often shaped by my nostalgic pop culture roots—hardcore music, skate culture, and late 90s electro all play a part.
YVFF: There’s a dry sense of humor in “Density,” along with situational fun and strong dialogue. How do you balance all that on screen?
Graham: The script was written loosely, with scene setups and key beats, but much of the dialogue was built through natural chemistry and the actors’ own sense of their characters. That approach kept it authentic and grounded, without forcing the humor.

YVFF: Has the film already screened at other festivals? How does YVFF fit into your festival tour, and what are you hoping to experience from our program and activities?

Graham: So far, “Density” has screened at LA Shorts, Burbank International, and Indie Short Fest. We were thrilled to be selected for Yucca Valley—it’s a festival we’ve heard so many good things about, especially from filmmakers focused on independent storytelling.
Catch Density on November 7 – Red Carpet at 5:30 p.m., screenings at 6:30 p.m.
Graham Bishop will sign autographs with his fellow filmmakers following the screenings of their films.
